Oxidation pathways of linoleic acid revisited with electrodynamic balance–mass spectrometry

نویسندگان

چکیده

Electrodynamic balance–mass spectrometry allows to study the ozonolysis of linoleic acid under strongly different ozone concentrations and reveals importance autoxidation at low concentrations.

On the formation of conjugated linoleic acid diagnostic ions with acetonitrile chemical ionization tandem mass spectrometry.

Acetonitrile chemical ionization tandem mass spectrometry has recently been shown to be a rapid method for the identification of double-bond position and geometry in methyl esters of conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs); however, the structures of intermediate and diagnostic ions and their mechanisms of formation are not known. A mechanism is proposed here in which the m/z 54 ion, (1-methyleneimino...

Oxidation of linoleic acid encapsulated with soluble soybean polysaccharide by spray-drying.

Linoleic acid was encapsulated with a soluble soybean polysaccharide, gum arabic, or a mixture of both together with maltodextrin, and the oxidation process of the encapsulated acid was measured at 37 degrees C and at a relative humidity of 12%. The soybean polysaccharide was more effective for encapsulating the acid and suppressing the oxidation of the encapsulated acid than gum arabic. A mixt...

Oxidation of an oil rich in docosahexaenoic acid compared to linoleic acid in lactating women.

BACKGROUND We studied the oxidation of an oil rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA; DHASCO((R))) in lactating mothers receiving a dietary DHA supplement or a placebo. The results were compared with the oxidation of linoleic acid. METHODS Breast-feeding mothers received a dietary supplement (DHASCO; 200 mg DHA/day, n = 5) or a placebo (n = 5) for 14 days. Six weeks post partum all 10 mothers rece...

Conjugated linoleic acid isomers in mitochondria: evidence for an alteration of fatty acid oxidation.

The beneficial effects exerted by low amounts of conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) suggest that CLA are maximally conserved and raise the question about their mitochondrial oxidizability. Cis-9,trans-11-C(18:2) (CLA1) and trans-10,cis-12-C(18:2) (CLA2) were compared to cis-9,cis-12-C(18:2) (linoleic acid; LA) and cis-9-C(16:1) (palmitoleic acid; PA), as substrates for total fatty acid (FA) oxidat...

Trans-10, cis-12 conjugated linoleic acid increases fatty acid oxidation in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of 0-50 micromol/L trans-10, cis-12 conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and cis-9, trans-11 CLA isomers on lipid and glucose metabolism in cultures of differentiating 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. Specifically, we investigated the effects of 6 d of CLA treatment on the following: 1) (14)C-glucose and (14)C-oleic acid incorporation and esterification into l...
